Science
fiction includes the hardcore, imaginatively embellished
technological/scientific novel as well as fiction that is even
slightly futuristic (often with an after-the-holocaust milieu -
nuclear, environmental, extraterrestrial, genocidal). An element
much valued by editors who acquire for the literary expression of
this cross-media genre is the ability of the author to introduce
elements that transcend and extend conventional insight.

SECOND CHANCE: KING OF ZAYA
by
R. Richard
Justin Imperiale is now the King of The Islands and the King of Zaya.
Seeing that Colonel Dakon Harkand, the Ambassador from Dorond, is about
to marry Norva Lemni, the Ambassador from the PCP, and never one to miss
an opportunity, Justin plans for the arrival of advanced civilization
representatives who will supposedly come to attend the wedding. They
will come to discuss trade with The Islands and Zaya.
Following the wedding, Justin is stalked by assassins who he manages to
kill without the use of firearms. He then uses the incident to use some
of Colonel Harkand's Dorond Marines to catch the mastermind behind the
assassins. During the wedding, there are any number of advanced
civilizations who are anxious to discuss the purchase of an anti-gravity
barge from Justin. He see that the gravity barge is one reason why his
old enemies, the Arquellians, want to kill him, while the rest of the
advanced civilizations want to keep him alive. He realizes that
advanced technology is necessary to keep him alive. Justin also
realizes that he must obtain more scrolls from the Temples of Vorell.
A problem arises in Zaya, due to a water shortage and he is able to
solve the problem with a simple device. However, the solution to the
problem leads to a sort of micro-war with some Zayan's. Justin's forces
win the war and he obtains a 'cheap copy' of an Arquellian energy weapon
that he believes may not be a cheap copy. Justin also manages to extend
his Kingdom a bit further South, as the farmers who accept his solution
to the water shortage also accept his rule.
As Justin tries to attract new business to Zaya, a man named Omaro
approaches him. Omaro is the chief of a jungle tribe and his people are
being abused by Zayans that Justin doesn't control. Omaro tells Justin
about a magic sword and a scroll that contains secrets of the sky.
Justin obtains the sword and the scroll at the cost of a war in the
jungle and a visit to a mysterious temple in the jungle. He discovers
that the 'magic sword' that he obtained is a sword used by a Prince of a
centuries old civilization based in the South Continent. The sword is a
high technology item and tells him the story of a march from the South
Continent mountains to the jungle of Omaro's people.
Needing money to finance his new Kingdom of Zaya, he then travels to the
South Continent with some of Omaro's warriors to recover emeralds hidden
by the Prince who carried the sword and the scroll from the South
Continent to Omaro's jungle. The recovery of the emeralds involves a
battle with a jungle tribe in the South Continent. During the
adventures involving the emeralds, Justin discovers that the mysterious
South Continent civilization that delivered him the magic sword probably
came from an advanced civilization planet. The advanced civilization
planet was home to a race of warrior priests and their religion is very
similar to the teachings of the Priests of Vorell. Justin suspects a
connection to Lord Vorell himself.
Among the emeralds that Justin obtained from the South Continent is one
called 'The Eye of The World.' The emerald has some magic/advanced
technology properties and will aid Justin in the expansion of his
kingdom. He then travels to Mervon for a meeting of the Association of
Nations and to sell some of the emeralds. There is an attempt to rob
his hotel room and the forces of the South Zayan government are caught
red handed. The result is that Justin is now recognized by the
Association of Nations as the King of Zaya.

SECOND CHANCE: KING OF THE ISLANDS
by
R. Richard
Justin Imperiale has become the absolute
monarch of the island of Fori Novor. His rule has done so well
for the island that the surrounding islands place themselves
under his rule in order to survive economically.
Justin then flimflams the Association of Nations into
letting him make the waters around his expanded kingdom of The Islands
into the private property of the new kingdom of The Islands.
A dispute arises between The Islands and the kingdom
of Zaya over the ownership of an uninhabited island. In the process of
flimflamming the Association of Nations into giving The Islands
sovereignty over the disputed island, Justin is approached by Zayan
rebels.
The Zayan rebels feel that they are misruled by the
King of Zaya and basically slaves of drug dealers who infest the area of
northern Zaya. The Zayan rebels agree to make Justin King of Zaya if he
can solve their problems.
Justin doesn't want to war with the drug dealers, so
he adopts a simple strategy of stealing the drug dealers drugs and
money. As a result of the wealth transfer, the drug dealer empire
collapses and Justin becomes the King of northern Zaya.
Justin's new title of King of Zaya pus him at
conflict with the current King of Zaya. A war is likely. The old King
has tanks and Justin has none. Justin has the means to fight the old
King's tanks, but then the tanks would be destroyed. Justin decides to
'acquire' some of the old King's tanks and other armament. Of course,
since it's Justin, theft is in play. However, the Zayan rebels also
acquire some tanks. The balance begins to swing in favor of Justin.
Justin reasons that the current King of Zaya lives
in a palace in Zaya City and there's only one King in the palace. Thus
Justin feels that the right commando can take down the current King of
Zaya and win the war. As a result, a disguised Justin travels to Zaya
City to take care of business. The old King has heavily armed guards,
Justin has mainly his wits. It's not an even match.

THE OMEGA TRIBE Book I
by
H. Paul Guerra
Dr. Wilcoxen is a
physician turned CIA agent and government cleric, a highly trained
investigator and enforcer of “compliance” in a futuristic America now
controlled by the one world government of The United Nations Alliance (UNA).
It is a world in the year 2033 that has a few holdout nations attempting
to remain free of the totalitarian grip of UNA, yet still under the
spellbinding influence of an all powerful computer named OMNI.
Dr. Wilcoxen, the wife of
a younger FBI agent also turned government cleric, discovers that a
former nemesis named Dr. Roger Zurnow, a geneticist and trauma surgeon
is still secretly alive after feigning his death. This mad scientist
they believed was jailed and left for dead near Mount Rushmore has
reemerged as a scourge to the human race with the highly clandestine
recreation of his own human cloning empire, HELIX.
While on a romantic
getaway, the couple discovers the shocking death of an Argentinean monk
and close friend by a dark couple working for HELIX leading them to more
hair raising discoveries of the secret introduction of human clones into
society and a bold plan to wipe out the human race and replace it with
HELIX clones. Dr. Wilcoxen finds herself in both a heart-pounding race
against time to find answers to halt this mad scientist and a dizzying
flee for her own life and those of her loved ones.
Even more unexpectedly,
she finds herself coming face-to-face with the daunting reason for her
close friend’s barbaric slaughter, the discovery of a mysterious relic
near the ruins of Machu Picchu, an object that holds the key to the
ultimate survival of the human race......
The Omega Tribe is a thriller read that eloquently
explores the connection between what we easily see and understand and
the difficult to conceptualize unexplored realm of our universe and
beyond.

SECOND CHANCE: SCROLL SEEKER
by
R. Richard
Justin prepares for an arbitration hearing to
decide if he’ll die as a result of being a Kivosh. He begins to
discover the power of the alien language he’s learning. He is then
subjected to PCP charges because of his Kivosh status, but is able to
convince the Arbitrator that the charges are based upon conclusions, not
facts. They then charge that he is in possession of banned technology,
specifically anti-gravitation. He produces the math that he supposedly
used to produce his own anti-gravitational device and is cleared of the
charges against him.
The Arquellian Arbitrator then tells Justin,
privately, that they need to recover a stolen manuscript, but won’t
describe it. However, the order to Justin is, 'Recover the manuscript or
die.' He does manage to get information that the manuscript the
Arquellians seek is in the possession of the Priests of Vorell. Justin
returns to Alvero, where he and Ashoro once failed to gain the
manuscript that is obviously the one the Arquellians want. Justin talks
to the High Priest and convinces him that the Arquellians will soon raid
the Temple to acquire the manuscript. The High Priest agrees to give
the manuscript to Justin if he can kill him in an unarmed combat duel,
so that no one will know that Justin has the manuscript.
After obtaining the manuscript from a man willing
to die doing his duty, Justin realizes that he needs to play the
advanced cultures, one against the other, if he’s to survive. He manages
to get Norva Lemni assigned as the PCP Ambassador to Fori Novor and
Major Dakon Harkand, a Dorond Marine assigned as the Dorond Ambassador
to Fori Novor. He and the Major then plan for the possibility of an
attack from an Arquellian scout boat. A small scale attack does come
and Justin's forces repulse the attack. He then has three naked whores
run from his palace. Supposedly the naked whores were driven in front
of the cowardly Arquellian invaders. In the aftermath of the Arquellian
attack, Justin arranges for a show trial to be held in Mervon. The show
trial is turned, by him, into a circus.
After the circus, a large Aozoran colony ship is
discovered, heading to Corin, probably to join the Aozoran colony
there. However, the colony ship won’t answer hail. A team needs to be
sent to investigate. Justin is maneuvered into leading the team. It’s
an obvious attempt to kill the Kivosh. He leads the team and survives
the attempt to kill him. When he returns to Fori Novor, Justin finds
that drug smuggling into Averon is on the decline due to his sky pirates
ripping off the delivery ships. Instead, the drugs are being warehoused
in an island off the coast of Averon. Justin's troops raid the
warehouses and steal the drugs.
Justin visits the islands of Aozora and begins to
suspect that Lord Vorell may have been on Corin and may still be there.
He also feels the need to upgrade the Fori Novor Air Force. Since Fori
Novor doesn’t have a lot of money, Justin plots to steal the aircraft he
needs.

SECOND CHANCE: SKY
PIRATE
by
R. Richard
The adventure continues.. Glarney Fered is growing younger with each life force that he
consumes from those he's forced to kill in pursuit of his dreams,
and is now almost half his original age.. He
has managed to assume a new identity as Jahn Loght.
He has, under
contract to the Primitive Culture Police, killed a dangerous
criminal alien. Now,
the PCP wants to execute Jahn, because they know that he is a Kivosh
who will try to
acquire life force.
As Jahn, he escapes
the PCP and recruits Risha to hit a casino operation,
in which they take a lot of money. However, Risha dies during the burglary.
Jahn then takes the long road and winds up with a lot of money in a large
city, still wanted by the PCP, the police
and a number of criminals.
Tracking an
exotic drug, he contacts alien suppliers, talks them out of killing him and even
gets them to sell him anti-gravity units that the aliens must have
in order to operate profitably.
Jahn begins to operate under disguise as
'the Devil' delivering high quality product
which he acquires by theft. As the Devil's
thefts start a drug war, he
arranges to end it, for a price. In
order to end the drug war, Jahn has to shoot up an alien spacecraft
and eject before it crashes. In a
triumph of skill over stupidity, Jahn and his best pilot rid
his suppliers of a very troublesome
problem with another advanced culture, earn obscene amounts of money
from the other product dealers, and set up governmental level
connections with the government of his criminal alien suppliers.
He then begins a large scale air piracy operation against
other product suppliers.
In order to really conduct a sky piracy operation,
Jahn needs a base
which he finds on the small impoverished island of Fori Novor.
However, Fori Novor is riddled with unrest, so Jahn decides that it
needs a new King to stabilize it.
As the only real candidate for
King, now calling himself Justin
Imperiale, he has to kill anyone who gets
in his way. King Justin then begins to run Fori Novor,
creates new jobs and
forms agreements with the large country of Averon, to allow Fori
Novor to grow the spices that can only grow in their climate. With
the criminals gone, Justin also sets up a tourist business.
The other nations of
the planet Corin, where Justin lives come to him with a
problem. It appears that person or persons have been ripping off
ship cargoes,
and reveal
that the cargoes are illegal drugs. Justin agrees to 'solve the
problem',
but he has no intention of doing so, since he is the
problem. However, he manages to deflect the blame to others.
The Kingdom of Fori Novor then faces invasion by sea from
the major power of Zorran. Justin has two choices. He can use
untried advanced technology at the risk of his life or let the
PCP, the drug lords and/or various powerful governments in Corin
kill him.
