Historical Fiction
A historical novel is a novel in
which the story is set among historical events, or more generally,
in which the time of the action predates the lifetime of the
author. As such, the historical novel is distinguished from the
alternate-history genre. The historical novel was popularized in
the 19th century by artists classified as Romantics. Many regard
Sir Walter Scott as the first to have used this technique, in his
novels of Scottish history such as
Waverley
(1814) and Rob Roy
(1818). His Ivanhoe
(1820) gains credit for renewing interest in the Middle Ages.
Victor Hugo's The Hunchback of
Notre Dame (1831) furnishes
another early example of the historical novel.
Historical fiction may center on historical or on fictional characters, but
usually represents an honest attempt based on considerable research (or at
least serious reading) to tell a story set in the historical past as
understood by the author's contemporaries. Those historical settings may not
stand up to the enhanced knowledge of later historians.

ATTENTION!
We are holding a Charity Drive!
There is a gentleman in Syria known as THE CAT MAN OF ALEPPO. He is Mohammed Alaa Ajaleel who just goes by Alaa, an ambulance driver. He earned this title by selflessly staying behind to help feed all the abandoned and stray kitties in that bombed out city, as well as creating a sanctuary for them, using his own funds.
The kids of Aleppo could also come to visit and experience some semblance of normalcy by interacting with the cats and dogs too. The first sanctuary was bombed and some of those precious kitties died, however, he was later able to find a new place further away where it was relatively safer, it seemed, until recently when a lone suicide bomber exploded a bomb in an area where Mr Alaa and other helpers from Syria Charity was handing out toys and treats to children. People were injured and many of the children died. Mr. Alaa's only mode of transportation, his vehicle for transporting animals to the new sanctuary was also destroyed during this bombing. Also recently, a zoo owner who could no longer afford to look after or feed the few animals he had left, a couple tigers, bears and some monkeys asked Mr. Alaa to to look after them, so now along with the cats ands dogs, are these bigger animals. You can connect to his page on
Facebook.
Over the next few months, we will be donating 25% of all our sales to assist this gentleman all those who help him look after these precious animals, and thank you for your kind patronage...it is tremendously appreciated.
