I was doing the same job for far too long and I needed a change. I had always enjoyed writing and wrote a lot for my work, so to exercise my mind I wrote some stories. I read too, novels mostly, and enjoy a good book. Perhaps my inspiration was to write stories for other people to enjoy. Friends and acquaintances did enjoy my stories, so maybe I could even write a novel. It was sensible to write mainstream fiction, but I wanted it to be different to what I saw on the shelves of the local library, or in 'new releases' in a bookshop. When I dreamt about four teenagers chased along a snowy street in Moscow, I knew I had a good start for something interesting.

I was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia, and moved to the nation's capital of Canberra more than 10 years ago. I worked as an information technology analyst and project manager for too many years, and filled my spare time with our two children, reading and travel. I enjoy getting off the beaten track and living like a local, rather than staying in tourist hotels. Fortunately the company I worked for was purchased by a multi-national, and they managed the change-over so well I found myself looking for a new job. So now I am in marketing in healthcare, which is the change I needed when I first started writing. I still enjoy writing however, and I do have plans. But whatever I write will not be about Australians in Australia, that's too conventional for me. Wherever it is set, I'm sure it will come to me in a dream.
