EXCERPT

What I do for a living is to repossess vehicles. Usually I repo vehicles where the owner has repeatedly failed to meet a scheduled financial commitment due the primary lien holder. In short, if you don’t make the payments, I steal the vehicle from you and return it to the finance company.

I’m the best repo man in the world (and I’m very modest as well.)

I normally work with an alien, from an off Earth, advanced civilization.

Zercharion is alien police. His job is to stop other aliens from obtaining things from Earth by trading alien produced drugs, in exchange for what the other aliens want. Why does a powerful alien like Zercharion involve himself with the likes of me?

The drug selling aliens don’t want to risk getting caught. Thus, they like to do the swap of alien produced drugs for Earth produced whatever, from a vehicle in motion. As I said vehicles are my business.

I started out in my career as a repo man as a desperate kid who would rip off anything that would run. Now, I’m at the top of my profession and only take on very difficult, very complex jobs where my customer is willing to make the requisite financial commitment. To put it bluntly, I can get it even when no one else can, but it’s gonna cost you big time if you want it!

However, back when I was still a desperate kid, another kid basically saved my life. I still owe the kid. The other kid also became a repo man. The other kid is not a very good repo man and he’s now in desperate trouble. Somebody has ripped off a very expensive limo. My life saving buddy has to find the limo, or he’s out of a job. I still owe my life saving buddy. I pay my debts.

I tell my buddy that I’ll help him out. I figure that my buddy has already checked the upscale areas where a big limo will fit in. I then think things through in depth. A big limo just won’t fit in a regular garage. Thus, what’s needed is a bigger storage area, say a barn. There’s lots of areas where a man can find barns. However, most of the areas are way out in the country. There’s one area where they had farming operations going on inside the city, until just recently, because of some sort of tax law thing. I hop in my truck and cruise down to a nerve center for my kind of operation. The nerve center is located just off the main road for the area. It’s a drive-in burger place, called The Starting Line.
